IN MY OWN WORDS - SIDNEY, OSP CALL CENTER AND LAUNDRY

Letter from Sidney

Sidney has learned as an agent skills about himself he never knew he had.

"The job has given me confidence in myself to interract with professionals in the buisness world; prior to OCE, I would have continued to shy away feeling inferior to this class of people. I now have skills to take with me upon release from prison. Upon doing some research, I have learned that the telemarket industry is felon friendly and starting wages range between $14.00 and $16.00 an hour. In some cases, the company contracted with OCE has hired several inmates upon release from prison!"

We have received many letters and continue to see more come in. The responses have been fairly well-rounded with a range of positive, negative, and neutral tones. We want to share with you a letter we received from Sidney. Sidney resides at Oregon State Penitentiary and works in the OCE Call Center. Prior to having a large laundry contract taken away from OCE, he used to also work overtime in the laundry and used that money to pay his daughter's electric bill and save money for release. His last name has been redacted for considerations of safety and sensitivity. What he has to say in the following letter is real and in his own words.
